Significant environmental benefit due to reduction in water consumption and sewage volume results in a markedly decreased carbon footprint for prison installations. The AcornVac toilet uses only 2 litres of water per flush. Water supply and sewage disposal costs are dramatically reduced.
Smaller Diameter Piping/Elimination of Vent Piping
The piping network is installed with smaller diameter pipe and fittings which will reduce material and installation labour costs. An AcornVac system forms a closed system which does not require vent piping and roof penetrations.
Flexibility
System piping can be installed horizontally or vertically allowing greater flexibility in the layout and design of both new facilities or remodelling of existing buildings.
This is particularly beneficial when refurbishing older buildings where installation of sanitary fittings in cells can be both difficult and costly. AcornVac provides a simple, quick and effective solution
Security & Control Benefits
The vacuum plumbing system uses differential air pressure to transport waste. This results in fewer blockages. When blockages do occur, they are easily located and removed.
Groups of cells can be readily isolated from the system to aid in security efforts and cross connection between cells through plumbing fixtures is eliminated.
Remote control systems enable precise control of water supply, including shower facilities and flushing frequency, for individual cells – all from a single central control station.
Healthy
Reduced aerosol effect through vacuum extraction makes in-cell toilet facilities much more hygienic than those using conventional flushing systems. This is a significant factor where food may be consumed in a cell also containing toilet facilities.
Proven in use Worldwide
Major installations recently completed include West Virginia Regional Jail, the Central Mental Hospital, Dundrum in Dublin as well as a number of Waitrose Supermarkets. The system is now in wide use in many parts of the world.
Cost Effective
Additional initial outlay is rapidly recouped through reduced costs. Recent installations have shown that a major facility can recover installation costs in six to eight months.
