Q - What is Stainless Steel?
|
|
A - An Englishman, Harry Brearley, is generally acknowledged to be the pioneer who developed stainless steels for commercial use.
Stainless steel can be defined as a group of corrosion resistant grades of steel containing a minimum 10% chromium and in which varying amounts of nickel, molybdenum, titanium, niobium as well as other elements may be present.
Stainless Steel is available in different alloys with varying properties. The most commonly used types used for our products are 300 series alloys.
The thickness and weight of the steel is described as the gauge: the lower the gauge number the thicker the steel. We use gauges between 12 and 20 depending on the product.

Q - Why choose Stainless Steel?
|
|
A - Stainless Steel is recommended for commercial or domestic applications where:
High levels of hygiene or sterility are mandatory or desirable: e.g restaurant kitchens, hospital operating areas, public washrooms.
Durability is required due to high or continuous usage.
Vandal resistance is required where fittings might be subject to abuse or misuse: e.g. schools, prisons, sports venues and public houses.
Cost effective solutions are desired: any increased initial outlay is recovered by extended life in service.
An environmentally friendly option is required: stainless steel is a green, recyclable product.

Q - How do I clean Stainless Steel?
|
|
A - Many people are surprised to find that stainless steel can be stained.
Routine cleaning is necessary to maintain the appearance of stainless steel, but requires only a soap or mild detergent wash followed by a rinse with clean water.
Stainless steel and chlorine do not mix. Stay away from the bleach when you clean stainless steel. Unless specially formulated for stainless steel, bleaches, abrasives or chemical cleaners should not be used.
Stubborn stains may be removed with vinegar or a proprietary stainless steel cleaner. Always test on an area of less prominence first. Always rinse thoroughly and towel dry.
