Unlike conventional waste piping, any break in the vacuum system piping will suck air into the piping, preventing waste from leaking out.

This means that any minor leak or puncture will not result in leaks on the shop floor.

Minor leaks could result in a drop in the vacuum and could result in warning sirens sounding if the leak becomes sufficient to compromise the effective working of the system.

If a major break in the piping network occurs through accidental damage for instance, an escape of condensate or waste could occur but this would be outside the category of “leak”. A break in the pipework due to incorrect or faulty installation could occur although such an event would be just as likely with any other type of plumbing system.
