Water Cooler Maintenance

Water Cooler Cleaning & Maintenance:

Our DDA water coolers require little and infrequent maintenance, with the motors having a lifetime lubrication which does not require scheduled maintenance,

1) Excess dirt or poor ventilation will cause the compressor overload protector to turn the compressor off and it will cycle on and off with no cold water being dispensed from the bubbler. Periodically clean with a vaccum cleaner, air hose or brush the condenser fins and shroud air vents. In environments where dust and dirt is more prevalent, clean more frequently.

2) DO NOT use harsh chemicals, abrasive or petroleum based cleaners. The use of such cleaners will void the Acorn Thorn warranty. We suggest cleaning with warm soapy water followed by rinsing with a wet clean non abraisive cloth.

3) Extra care must be taken while cleaning any chrome plated items, they can scratch easily. We suggest cleaning with a clean, soft cloth and wild soap with water or glass cleaner.

Water Cooler Cartridge Replacement and Strainer Maintenance

Our water coolers have a very simple cartridge replacement and stainer maintenance procedure.

Note: To undertake this, you will need the Acorn universal maintenance tool.

1) Remove the strainer plug. It can be found under the front lip of the water cooler, use the universal tool to un-screw the plug. This will shut off the water to the cartridge assembly without the need to isolate the unit from the water supply. Some residual water may drain during plug removal, this is normal.

2) Clean the strainer which is attached to the plug using clean potable water.

3) Using the universal tool, insert the diamond into the front push button of the cooler, turn 90 degrees clockwise or anti-clockwise and pull firmly to remove the button.

4) Remove the cartridge retaining nut.

5) Replace the used cartridge with a new one. Available to purchase as part of a whole service kit comprising Universal tool, push button and cartridge, from Acorn Thorn

6) Re install the cartridge retaining nut making sure to seat the cartridge appropriately. The cartidge is seated correctly when tightening the retaining nut, it starts to make a creaking noise. Do not over tighten.

7) Push a new or the existing button back into place.

8) Re insert the strainer plug and tighten.

This completes the cartridge change and maintenance of an Acorn Thorn Water Cooler
